  • Marie Brizard is a French brand of liqueurs and syrups, created in Bordeaux 1n 1755 by Marie Brizard herself. According to the legend maintained by the firm's advertising brochures, Marie Brizard learned the secret of making an elixir that cures all kinds of ailments in a rather timely manner. Indeed, rumour has it that she rescued an unfortunate black slave burning with fever and wondering on the port of Bordeaux on January 11, 1755. As a token of gratitude, the latter is said to have given her the secret of making the magic elixir.
