Hermes.com > The Story Behind
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Buckingham Palace… but it's not just any horse, because the one at the center of this design is a Windsor Grey, the same horse that pulls the famous Gold State Coach. Its twirling reins frame the equally royal Queen Alexandra's State Coach and Diamond Jubilee State Coach. In the corners of the scarf, the English, Northern Irish, Welsh, and Scottish symbols, delicately placed on colored wheels, unite the four countries of the kingdom. The British designer Stuart Patience drew his inspiration from a visit to the Royal Mews, the stables of the royal family, which gave Hermès free rein for the composition of this scarf.
