This very rare scarf was released as a gift for silk workers in Lyon area, where all french silk fabrics were produced until the 70's. It is a 90 cm one, but in a smaller box, the box is engraved with an inscription that explains the purpose of the scarf (creation of The Legion d'Honneur by Napoleon : Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur, a French honour that is still awarded today to the most remarkable men and women. Every year, the President of the Republic awards the Legion d'Honneur to a certain number of people who have distinguished themselves by their merit and contributed to France's influence during the year.)

It is made of Jacquard silk, but not with the bees as we know on the Napoleon carre. The bees are printed on the silk, and the fabric shows a kind of lozenge jacquard woven in the silk.

It was a Christmas Gift from Hermès in 1963 to the most reliable employees of its silk factory, among them the grand mother of the seller.
