Alfred de Dreux, Painter of Horses
How can the butterfly allow itself to frighten the emblematic horses of the "two-horse duc" of Hermes, at the center of the scarf? In order to delight the spirit of Alfred de Dreux, a great artist killed in a duel in 1860 at the age of 48, whose memory rises back to us from the depths as though from the calm of a pool in a glorious French garden, the kind he loved so well.
