Harmony and respect. These two words summarize the relationship between horse and rider in the equestrian discipline of show jumping. The obstacle bars, which fall at the slightest brush, here outline a geometric composition whose dynamism fits wonderfully with the portraits of vigorous horses exercising. The first competitions date from the second half of the 19th century, and from 1901 under the glass roof of then one-year old Grand Palais in Paris a number of equestrian events were held. This tradition, abandoned in 1957, has been revived over the past two years with the saut Hermes during which the world elite of this sport compete.
