Le Carre Hermes > Spring-Summer 2017
Brides de gala, a scarf that has become the very emblem of Hermes, has lent itself to many interpretations over the years. These qualities are entirely due to the talent of its designer, Hugo Grygkar, and to the sumptuousness of the bridles it was modelled on. One, featuring mermaids rising out of cornucopia, belonged to Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico; the other is decorated with the finely crafted coat of arms belonging to the Counts de La Ferronnays. Both came from the Emile Hermes collection, which is brimming with objects testifying to the house's equestrian origins. In a new metamorphosis, the scarf now celebrates love. Joyously it abandons itself to a shower of little hearts, as it nestles in its own heart-shaped orange box.
