Hermes Histoires de Carres > Autumn - Winter 2021
In tantric Buddhism, the "A-Un" signifies the beginning and end of all things. This philosophical concept is embodied here in the complimentary forces of a couple. The Japanese artist Kohei Kyomori, winner of the Grand Prix du Carre Hermes launched worldwide in 2019, pays tribute to Japanese culture and the traditional motifs used on kimonos. In his composition, the man's jacket is adorned with a tiger, the embodiment of courage, while a peony flower, symbolising the ideal, is positioned near his companion's braided turban.
