The Time of "Marionnettes"

It is by analogy with the statuettes of the Virgin that the French gave the name of "marionnettes" to these dolls, which offered families farces, in miniature, from all over the world! This scarf presents an international cast, summoning to the sides of Pierrot and Colombine a dragon from the shades of China, life-size puppets from Sicily, as well as French high society characters of the Eighteenth Century and other examples from Japan, Africa or Egypt.
