THERA'S SPRINGTIME
Thera is the other name of Santorin, or Saint-Irene, the most southerly of all Cyclades and the most Aegean of terrestrial paradises. The island was, before Crete, before Mycenae, a beacon of the Mediterranean,. Its springtime is a gentle stirring, a ripple of peace. Its climate summons up dreams of a fisherman, tanned by the wind and the waves, who is awaited by his young wife, as she picks saffron. Frolicking close by are the deer, full of vitality, and amorous antelopes. A sense of harmony.
