Kagami Tenjo is the "mirrored ceiling" of Shin-Yo-Sha temple painted by Kano Ryotaku (in the Irimoya-Zukuri style); but it also denotes that unique moment of awakening of consciousness in eastern meditation, in the form of feasting maidens, whose laughter turns to song, whose frolics become a dance, and whose music gives wing to the mundane soul of common mortals, bowed down under the weight of material concerns.
