New Orleans, the cradle of jazz. At the turn of the century the strolling fanfare of brass and wind instruments settled in the bars, joined by the piano, the double bass and the drums, for a jam session to wake the dead. It was the age of the blues, ad their vigorous spirit still haunts the famed riverboats, which ply the Mississippi, and whose paddles churn to the legendary names of Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Johnny Dodds and many others.
