Le Carre Hermes > Printemps - Ete 1995
Contemporary civilian costumes
They were "contemporary" for 1788, when they were presented in a four-volume work by Sylvain Marechal, illustrated with woodcuts of paintings by Desrais and Grasset de Saint-Sauveur, with accompanying footnotes on the "customs and religions" of the people who wore them. Today, these somewhat outdated clothes carry us back in time on an enchanting journey through forgotten lifestyles that is worthy of the fables of old.
