Histoires De Carres > Spring-Summer 2020
Rop van Mierlo, a young artist based in Amsterdam, is a newcomer to the world of scarves. Here, he has fun with one of the house's most famous designs, Brides de gala. His favourite subjects are animals and still lives, which he interprets in a very personal way, allowing colours to fuse and shapes to develop, using ink, gouache and acrylic all at the same time. The two famous bridles from the Emile Hermes collection that served as models for this scarf become a frothy monochrome. Their original sharpness gives way to a halo of soft contours.

A One Of A Kind Beauty
Topstitched in the workshops then plunged into a large bath, the carré 90 is washed by the expert hands of our craftspeople following an intricate process. Their dexterity transforms the silk, giving it a new texture; while its colours change hue.
The twill is mattified and the colours have a filtered look. The scarf softens, becomes more velvety. Its silk acquires a beautiful, one-of-a-kind patina. An everyday companion, the scarf can actually be washed... in a washing machine!
