Histoires De Carres > Autumn-Winter 2016
The Conservatoire des creations Hermes, a private museum housing Hermes creations since its very beginnings, is a treasure-trove of inspiration for its designers. From this collection, Virginie Jamin chose a vast array of belt buckles. Some date from the 1920s, others are more recent, but each of them, from the most restrained to the most elaborate, is remarkable for its bold geometry. Composing a square within the scarf, a circuit emerges, marked out by lines, forms and colours. Despite the strictly marshalled rows, the eye is led into a tempting maze full of surprises.
