Histoires De Carres . Printemps-Ete 2012

Gathered by a family of enlightened and ardent collectors, a superb collection of ethnic belts gave birth to this scarf in testament to Asian and African cultures. Glass beads, silver, bronze and coral, the variously worked materials each reveal a unique and timeless art. At the centre, flower-shaped, is a Kirdi belt from Cameroon; below, engraved silver plates from the Indian province of Madhya Pradesh; around these lie sections of a Tibetan belt, the one of a Masai warrior. Yemen, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and Congo are also part of the voyage. At the heart of this composition, responding to our Western culture, twists a strip of Hermes leather fastened with a silver buckle.
