Le Carre Hermes Paris > Automne/Hiver 1990/91
this is the Mexican rodeo, which takes place in a corral known as a lienzo, for the sheer fun of it rather than in a competitive spirit. The point of it is, for each participant, to demonstrate man's mastery of the beast. Bullfights and bull-riding, breaking of wild horses, lasso tricks, etc. Women, too, have their part in it in the calla de caballo, a horsewoman has to rein in her galloping mount, bringing in to a dead halt. "Viva la Charreada!"
