Histoires De Corail > Autumn-Winter 2016
Thinking back to her childhood in Africa took Annie Faivre on a journey of memories that resulted in the creation of Chemins de corail (coral paths). The names given to the colours of this fragile marine organism - angel skin, blood flower, blood foam - symbolise its enigmatic nature. First thought to be a mineral, then a plant, coral was definitively classified as part of the animal kingdom in the 18th century. Corals were among the first inhabitants of the sea world and generally live in colonies forming magnificent reefs. The largest in the worlds the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia, a natural marvel which is increasingly threatened by pollution and global warming.
