The mallard is a very large duck, graceful in flght and swift of wing. Its call can be heard from afar. Marshes, the sea-shore and river-banks are its natural habitat. According to the experts, the male emits a stringent whistling sound at the sight of its mate - which is not altogether unlike the human biped, who is also apt to whistle at the glimpse of a shapely figure.
