Histoires De Carres > Automne-Hiver 2009

It's the unlikely meeting of two opposed worlds that is imagined in this carre: that of "free man" - The Native Americans with their refined craftsmanship - and the mechanised world, ruled by speed and wealth! All the means of locomotion which have revolutionised life are pictured: the bicycle, the steam train and the car, that symbol of luxury and advanced technology. By blending in with these discoveries the bison, decimated by the pioneers, and several Native Americans wearing their traditional necklaces, the designer underlines the antagonism of nature, one developing at the expense of the other.
