This carre pays tribute to the Marwari horses of India.
- Marwar is a region of western Rajasthan state in North Western India. It lies partly in the Thar Desert.
- The word "maru" is Sanshrit for desert.
- The Marwari horse is born gaited. They can have a "rehwal" or "revaal" gait, which is a quick four beat lateral gait that is smoother and more comfortable than a trot.
- The sturdiness and toughness of the Marwari horse makes it ideal for the high altitude desert climate and extreme temperatures of parts of northwestern India.
- Marwari horses can travel long distances with a minimum of water and food.
