Histoires De Carres > Spring - Summer 2021
The collar was a piece of equestrian equipment placed around the neck of harnessed horses in former times to allow the coachman to guide them. In this design, its distinctive oval shape encircles models of horse-drawn carriages from the 19th century. The manufacture of these light vehicles involved numerous craftsmen, the most important of whom was undoubtedly the wheelwright, who specialkised in shaping and hooping the wheels. Harnesses and buckles recall this bygone era, which was disrupted in the 1890s by the invention of the motor car. This scarf from 1978 is available in new colours this season,
