FLOWERS AND CARLINE THISTLES
The carline is a sort of thistle, growing in arid soils. Hearts which are too dry also produce a thistle: that of egoism, a sentiment bearing its own prickles, just like its vegetable original, but possessing neither beauty nor barometric usefulness. For, in fact, nailed to doors in the Larzac region, carlines gracefully open and shut according to the atmospheric conditions and surrounding humidity. With luck, here, the abundant armful of flowers forecasts nothing but fine weather for us.
