In the marshlands of the Rhone delta, we pay a visit to the "upper class" of the winged society of water birds. Among others: the great blue heron, a soft-voiced migrator; his cousin the starred bittern, short and heavy-necked; the huge Belon sheldrake, with his distinctive red beak: and the little winter teal, soaring, swiftly above majestic pink flamingos.
