Hermes En Voyage

Histoires De Carres > Automne-Hiver 2009

The carre resembles those atlas fly-leaves, covered with flags of all nations of the world. But flags stuffed with unusual details, reinvented by the designer, who has incorporated numerous house emblems as veiled messages. Horse-shoe, bit, stirrup, capital H, ex-libris, caleche... all jostle    on pennants to compose other emblems. They become chequered racing flags, striped horse blankets, school badges or university coats of arms! This carre is a metaphor of Hermes, for whom a journey is a catalyst and embracing other cultures a philosophy. It's an evocation of the world seen from a pacific, multicoloured and universal angle.
