- The Godfather is an American film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Paramount Studios in 1972. It iis considered one of the greatest films in the history of world cinema. Henri d'Origny was inspired by the logo on the film's advertising poster, which symbolises a puppet. The design of the logo refers to the scene where Don Vito Corleone, who is preparing his succession, says to his son" I have always refused to be a puppet dancing on a string pulled by the big shots... I would like you to be the one pulling the strings when my time comes."
