Published for the centenary of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
- The Statue of Liberty was built in France by the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi. It was offered by the French people, as a sign of friendship between the two nations, to celebrate the centenary of the American Declaration of Independence. The statue was unveiled to the public on 28 October 1886. The intervention of Gustave Eiffel made it possible to solve technical problems linked to the construction.
