Histoires De Carres > Automne-Hiver 2009
Cassandre's bizarre literature seems to play with letters without giving birth to words! And yet... look closely! From that alphabetical succession of different typographical characters, from those graphical lines, whose construction is almost architectural, emerge perpendicularly the words, "Paris, Hermes". Cassandre 91901-1968), artist, poster designer and creator of typefaces, was deeply influenced by the Bauhaus and Cubism. He collaborated with Hermes from 1948; it was a period of cultural renewal and bubbling ferment into which the firm plunged, working with major talents who nourished its creative spirit.
