Histoires De Carres > Spring - Summer 2018
A ceramic artist who has exhibited all over the world, not the least in her native country of Portugal, Bela Silva nourishes her creativity with varied sources of inspiration. There is another dimension to her work stemming from her love of collages, which she creates with all kinds of paper gathered on walks and trips. In La Maison des oiseaux parleurs, the shapes have been cut out from accountancy ledgers found in flea markets, or from vintage wallpapers. Cut out, glued, livened up with drawings, these shapes come together to create a free and joyful scarf, inhabited by animals and heterogeneous objects assembled around talking birds conversing in their secret language.
