It was in 1490 that Hanus, the master clockmaker, delivered his great astronomical clock to the town hall of Prague where it is still in use today. Legend has it that the town councilors of that time were then so pleased with the work that they took every measure to ensure that the unhappy workman would be unable to satisfy other customers in the future. As the solar hours creep by, whether traditional or Babylonian, jealousy lives on!
