Historias De Carres > Autumn-Winter 2011
In the blazing magnificence of its plumage the phoenix triumphant rises from the ashes. This mythical, startlingly beautiful bird lives several hundreds of years before being consumed in a nest of branches perfumed with myrrh and incense, only to be renewed at birth. The Greeks associated its name with that of the tree that sheltered the birth of Apollo, god of Light. For the Ancient Greeks, it was the date palm that symbolized fertility and longevity. Myths possess the wonderful gift of enabling us to travel in time and space and this scarf, which makes itself the messenger, encircles the bird with leaves and the fruit of date palms.
