Le Carre Hermes Paris > Printemps - Ete 1997
These figurines and African masks from different periods belonged to tribal chieftains and were handed down from generation to generation as tokens of power or objects of ritual. The sculpted wood owes its colour to vegetable or mineral dyes and sometimes to the "azure blue" which still gives European cloths their radiance. The four bands framing the scarf are ntshaks and are used by women to drape themselves with.
