Histoires De Carres >> Printemps-Ete 2009

Tziganes, Gypsies, Bohemians... these eternal travellers are known as the People of the Wind. Their legends are an ode to nature and recount their magical virtues - communicating with animals, palm reading, to name but a few. The carre pays tribute to their myths, to their beliefs and to their creeds. Surrounded by gypsy dancers, a tree of life welcomes musicians, tightrope walkers and animals. The wheel - whether that of the gypsy caravan or of the fortune-teller - is a predominant symbol. In the lower part of the carre, a scene illustrates the legend of Sara, the Black Virgin of the "Roma"the name for these nomadic people since 19871).
