Arabian Oryx

  • A medium sized antelope with a distinct shoulder bump, long straight horns and a tufted tail. It's coat is almost luminous white. Undersides and legs are brown with black stripes where the neck meets the body.
  • Native to the dessert and the steppe areas of the Arabian Peninsula.
  • They diet mainly on grasses and plant material. They can detect rainfall from a distance and follow in the direction of fresh plant growth.
  • In addition to Qatar, it is the national animal of Jordon, Oman , UAE and Bahrain
