This porthole is at once microscopic and telescopic. The eye contemplates the vast world, the virgin islands and the horizon of an ocean which weighs like marble on the unheeding life of the mollusc. But it catches also the insignificance of man confronted by his dreams; the imagination searches for its salvation in this escape towards briny adventures, which a kindly god contrived within his bounds - an emergency exit for those nostalgic landlubbers who are prey to the call of the deeps.
