Le Carre Hermes Paris > Automne/Hiver 1990/91
This scarf was designed in 1972 in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sovereign of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, a friend and ally of France, who sealed her friendship that year with a visit to Paris. The artist has taken the English rose, the Scottish thistle, the Irish shamrock and the Welsh leek to compose a French bouquet as a token of the affinity between two nations which in bygone days were so often at daggers drawn.
