Meeting of Oceans

This meeting takes place between Gibraltar, the tip of Europe, and the African cape of Ceuta, where the waters of the Mediterranean merge with those of the Atlantic. Here is where Hercules planted his glorious Pillars after killing Geryon in Erythia, a mythical isle south-east of Spain. Seething vibrations, congregations of madrepores and gaily-coloured corals: a commemorative fever sweeps over the deep sea-bed.
