"Aborigine" originally meant indigenous, though it has come to signify the native people of Australia. From them comes the "Dream-time", or dreaming as an active force. Linked with Baiame, the great creative Spirit, and with the patronage of tutemic animals (the snake, the crocodile, the eagle and the kangaroo), this divine reverie engenders lakes and mountains and finds an echo in the human soul, thirsting for harmony in the art of living.
