Histoires De Carres > Printemps-Ete 2009

The creation of this original carre, Le Reve de Gloria, named after the artist herself, came about following an art exhibition of Australian aborigine sketches and then consolidated by an encounter with one of the painters. Abstract and random to the uninitiated, these stained designs are in fact extremely precise, full of meanings and symbol. In Aborigine culture, artists benefit from a special status, similar to that of the shamans. Like them, they are "initiated" and may not reveal the rules of their art. Linked as ever to a territory and to profound spirituality, each one of their sketches corresponds to a phase, codified by ancient tradition.

Histoires De Carres > Spring-Summer 2019

Australian aboriginal culture is founded on the memory of the origin of life in mythical times, referred to as tjukurpa, or alcheringo, which in English is translated as the Dreamtime, or Dreaming. It is said that the life forces rose up from the earth and wondered the virgin wilderness, shaping the landscape. Between journeys, they slept and dreamed of their travels to come. Through their psychic power, from dream to action, they created the sensory world of animals, plants and stars. Artists are the custodians of the motifs reproduced in rituals devoted to these ancestors. Transmuted from the imagination of Gloria Petyarr, the renowned Australian aboriginal artist, Le Reve de Gloria is a work from the Bush Medicine Dreaming series.
