- G.H. Mumm & Cie is a French champagne house founded in Reims in 1827. C'est en 1876 que Georges G. Mumm cree la celebre cuvee Cordon Rouge. Anecdotally, the Mumm brothers had the idea of decorating the bottles with a red ribbon, suggesting a Legion of Honour, a high French distinction materialized by a red ribbon worn on the lapel. This is how the red cord became the logo of this famous Cuvee.
