Under the Cedar

This tree may stand modestly, but still it reigns by virtue of its size and its biblical longevity, and we like it even more for adorning the Lebanese flag. A witness to legendary epochs, it has provided the ecumenical wood from which temples, mosques and the great Phoenician ships were constructed. Here, bordered by Byzantine mosaics, it invites us to partake of a shade, which lends itself to mediation upon the sacred mysteries.
