Histoires De Carres > Automne-Hiver 2009
The carre leads us on a winter walk after the leaves have fallen. When the trees are bare, a few shrubs keep their frail remnants of vegetation, offering walkers their seasonal fruits. White juicy marbles of the snowberry, a cousin of the honeysuckle, which children throw at each other, like tiny snowballs; hips of wild roses peeping through prickly garlands with their brilliant fires; the funny seeds, like bishops' mitres, of the spindle-tree; coloured pearls from the holly, with its persistent and prickly leaves... These are the little joys of children, who gather them, and of birds, who peck greedily at these winter desserts.
