Histoires De Carres > Automne-Winter 2009
Inspired by the collections of old toys from the Zabavushka Museum in Moscow, the designer has depicted all the old traditional Russian playthings spilling out, as if from a treasure chest. Simple and coloured, they are made out of materials which are rustic and natural: wood, bark, straw or fabric. The matriochkas, those well-known dolls which fit inside each other, and the horses, which in Russia are children's lucky charms and represent the sun god carrying the day star in his golden troika, rub shoulders with construction games, with their domes, palaces and isbas (traditional wooden homes). The carre is bordered with stylised flowers borrowed from folk embroideries.
